Full or partial rewiring?

A full rewire replaces the wiring throughout a property. A partial rewire deals with agreed circuits or areas, where the condition of the remaining installation allows it. We assess the existing wiring and discuss your plans before recommending the scope of work.

The age of a property, an older fuse box or a lack of sockets does not by itself prove that a full rewire is needed. An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) can help establish the condition of the installation. We also provide consumer unit upgrades where that is the appropriate work.

When should you ask for advice?

Repeated tripping, damaged or discoloured sockets, flickering lights and signs of overheating should be investigated. These symptoms can have different causes, so we do not assume that rewiring is always the answer.

If you are renovating, it is a useful time to discuss socket positions, lighting, kitchen appliances and future plans such as electric heating or EV charging. Planning early helps coordinate the electrical work with other trades and decoration.

What to expect from your project

Assessment and quotation: we discuss your requirements, inspect the existing installation and set out the proposed work.
Planning and access: we agree the layout, access arrangements and expected supply interruptions. Rewiring can involve lifting floors and opening walls, so we discuss making good and decoration before work starts.
Careful installation: mechanical wall chasers and dust extraction help control dust where suitable. Rewiring is still disruptive work, and we explain what to expect for your property.
Testing and handover: we inspect and test the completed work, provide an Electrical Installation Certificate and arrange the required Building Regulations notification for notifiable domestic work.
